da marjack bet: The word legend is very loosely kicked around in football, with some players drawing this status for actually doing very little on the pitch.
da aposte e ganhe: But there is one man that has seemingly been around for years who this week announced he would be leaving Everton at the end of the season, after ten good years between the Goodison Park sticks.
In this time he’s made over 300 appearances and even scored a goal (Remember it, that famous one against Bolton?!). But now at 37-years-old, the American international is slowly edging towards the end of his career and this has reflected in an imminent move to the Colorado Rapids.
The goalkeeper has found himself out-of-favour in recent months with Joel Robles being preferred in goal, but this doesn’t reflect the majority of his career where has consistently been number one under every manager that has graced the Goodison Park dugout.
He was a particularly important player under the long reign of David Moyes and has consistently battled Brad Friedel for the role as America’s best international goalkeeper.
But a keeper of Howard’s quality isn’t just important on the pitch. His work off the pitch, helping Everton’s various up-and-coming goalkeepers should be brought into light too. It’s well known that the former Manchester United man has played a big role in the development of Joel Robles, and it is somewhat ironic that it is the Spaniard who will become the number one at Everton when Howard does depart.
But what about Howard’s new employers?
The Colorado Rapids are a somewhat anomaly when it comes to a modern-day MLS franchise because they haven’t really had a “landmark signing”. Whereas LA Galaxy and New York City have led the way when it comes to splashing the cash, the Rapids, based in Denver, haven’t really broken the bank in an attempt to gain MLS glory.
The biggest signing in their history is American midfielder Jermaine Jones who is on their current roster and had an extremely successful spell in the Bundesliga. So arguably, the signing of Tim Howard represents an extremely big coup for the Rapids, who are expected to push on when he does become available to play at the end of the Premier League season.
One of the nicest things to come out of this transfer has been the reaction to Howard’s departure on social media. Evertonians seem genuinely gutted about the news of the transfer whilst understanding that the move has arisen because it’s time to move on.
Meanwhile, Colorado fans have been understandably excited by the confirmed move which they hope could see their team press on ahead of the newly-started MLS season.
But whatever happens during Howard’s new tenure, he has been a fantastic servant for the Premier League and for Everton FC.
