da jogodeouro: According to reports in The Sun, Southampton are one of the clubs interested in signing highly-rated Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon.
What’s the word, then?
da doce: Well, The Sun report that Saints, Bournemouth and Aston Villa are all closely watching the contract situation of the 21-year-old, whose current deal at the Liberty Stadium expires at the end of the current campaign.
Despite becoming a first-team regular under Graham Potter this term, The Sun says that the Welsh club are unwilling to dish out any big contracts at this stage of the season, as it is obviously unclear what division they will find themselves in next term as they look for an instant return to the Premier League.

The report adds that Manchester City have also been linked with Rodon previously, and there could be a massive clamour for his signature if it turns out that he does end up leaving the Swans.
Would he be a good signing for Southampton?
In his 11 Championship appearances this season the Welshman has shown his class despite his tender years, with Swansea having the joint-second best defence in the division thus far.
While the 21-year-old would be a good signing for the future for Saints, given the plethora of options Mark Hughes has available to him right now he would probably have to get rid of at least one – and probably two – centre-backs before bringing Rodon to St Mary’s.
22-year-old Bednarek has found first-team opportunities hard to come this season, and the arrival of the Swans man would surely push him closer to the exit door seeing as he already appears to be behind Wesley Hoedt, Jannik Vestergaard, Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens in the pecking order.
