da bet7: According to reports in The Mirror, West Ham United may face competition from London rivals Crystal Palace in the race to sign Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter during the January transfer window, with his price tag also a potential issue.
What’s the word, then?
da poker: Well, The Mirror reported earlier this month that David Moyes was keen to bring the Republic of Ireland international to the London Stadium in the New Year to boost his relegation-threatened squad, but now Palace are ready to rival the Irons for the 27-year-old.
The Mirror says that Moyes wants to add Arter to his midfield options as he believes he will add some mobility and bite in the centre of the park, but Eagles boss Roy Hodgson is also keen with his team bottom of the table ahead of their home match against Stoke City on Saturday.
The report says that despite the fact that the midfielder only signed a new four-year deal with the Cherries in June, both London clubs are ready to test the south coast outfit’s resolve.
Why do both clubs want Arter?
The 27-year-old old has shown during his time with Bournemouth in the Premier League that he loves to battle and work hard for his team, and that is the type of character that both West Ham and Palace need right now considering they are both in a relegation battle.
Arter showed the qualities he has in 35 top flight appearances for the Cherries last term, and according to Squawka he won 64 tackles as well as making 53 interceptions, 41 clearances and 13 blocks.
While his passing accuracy of 88% was also impressive, he has also shown that he can have an impact in the final third too – as shown when he scored in the 4-0 win against Huddersfield Town last weekend.
Will West Ham get him?
While the Irons would probably be confident that they could beat Palace to the Republic of Ireland international’s signature, the fact that Arter only signed a new four-year deal a matter of months ago mean that Bournemouth are likely to demand a large fee for any club that wants to add the 27-year-old to their squad.
That could prove to be a problem for West Ham and Moyes if he isn’t given a considerable budget by the board in the New Year.
